Collector cars powered the afternoon, as bidders and enthusiasts filled the arena to witness over 120 vehicles that represented decades of automotive history take center stage, ranging from a 1928 Ford Model A custom coupe to modern marvels such as a 2010 Porsche Panamera S.Tuesday’s action saw the first collector car to hit six figures: a 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle convertible (Lot #181) previously owned by rocker Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue, which crossed the block for $110,000. The Bowtie brand continued to dominate the day’s top sellers, with a custom 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle convertible (Lot #195) selling for $121,000. Walking away with top honors in the morning’s Automobilia Auction was Lot #8401, a 1950s RPM Aviation Oils porcelain sign that sold for $57,500. Tuesday also marked the first day of live TV coverage on FYI, as well as the first of several complimentary collector car symposiums, providing guests with intriguing in-depth looks behind the hobby through the eyes of expert panelists.Barrett-Jackson motored into midweek action on Wednesday, with the auction arena at standing-roomonly capacity and enthusiastic bidding resulting in over 20 auction world records being set. The day’s top-selling vehicle was Lot #468, a custom 2009 Chevrolet Corvette that crossed the block for $128,700, followed closely by Lot #464, a 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake, that went to a new home for $126,500.Charity Sales, Block Stars and Rock StarsOn Thursday, January 25, one of the most heartfelt moments on the Barrett-Jackson block was the sale of the first of the auction’s four charity vehicles. Lot #3000, a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 3LZ, brought the gavel down on a winning bid of $220,000, with an additional $50,000 generously donated by philanthropist and longtime member of the Barrett-Jackson family, Michelle Mauzy. With no fees or commissions added to charity cars, 100% of the sale price went directly to The Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation, which aims to raise awareness of amyloidosis and raise funds for educational and research purposes.
