17The 2024 collector car auction calendar kicked off in spectacular fashion at WestWorld of Scottsdale, January 20-28, as Barrett-Jackson added exciting new elements to its unique automotive lifestyle event and featured its largest auction docket in company history.With 2,016 vehicles crossing the renowned auction block for $200.9 million in sales, the 2024 Scottsdale event was the largest entirely No Reserve public consignment auction for collector cars in history. Additionally, 1,180 pieces of authentic automobilia sold for $6.7 million, bringing total auction sales to $207.6 million, the most for a single auction since Barrett-Jackson was founded over 50 years ago. With a 100-percent sell-through rate and over 190 world-record auction sales, the 2024 Scottsdale Auction was certainly one to remember.Opening WeekendThe festivities began with the inaugural “Rock the Block” concert featuring sold-out live performances from iconic rock bands Foreigner and Night Ranger. Additional attractions during opening weekend included Barrett-Jackson’s QuikTrip Family Day, featuring STEM Fest, which offered children an array of STEM games, robotics and other activities and marked the start of Barrett-Jackson’s 2024 Gearing Towards The Future initiative.Saturday morning began with a session of “Supercar Therapy,” where over a dozen VICPs (Very Important Co-Pilots) and their families enjoyed a police-escorted supercar expedition in and around WestWorld. The event culminated with a trip across the auction block, where the children, each of whom is battling serious illness or heavy life challenges, received a hero’s welcome. This marked a special moment in their journey with the Driven Project and Barrett-Jackson.The opening Saturday also saw The Future Collector Car Show take place on the Polo Field at WestWorld. Over 200 cars vied for Best of Show, but ultimately a 1986 Alfa Romeo GTV-6 owned by Mark Nicotera won top honors.
