A rolling showcase of the design mastery of Pardo and his team, combined with Ford Motor Company’s engineering capabilities, the GT40 was greenlit during the spring of 2002 for full development to production-ready status. Legalities soon forced a name change to “Ford GT,” but the point was clear – the new GT would electrify Ford enthusiasts as part of the company’s centennial celebrations and even put Ford’s old archrival Ferrari once again on the defensive with its excellence. Selling with No Reserve at the April 18-20 Palm Beach Auction, this 2005 Ford GT handsomely celebrates the design and development process that began with Camilo Pardo and his team.Powered by a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 engine paired with a Ricardo 6-speed rear transaxle, this 2005 Ford GT sports a Mark IV Red paint finish with white Le Mans stripes, a combination featured on only 766 of the 2,022 Ford GTs produced for model year 2005 in total. Other highlights include the black leather interior, optional high-end McIntosh stereo system and optional lightweight BBS forged wheels.
