rebuild was performed under the
fourth owner in 2003. At the time
of writing, this outstanding 1955
Mercedes-Benz 300SL (Lot #1415)
now has 95,377 actual kilometers
(59,265 miles) of use. It will be
offered with No Reserve at Barrett-
Jackson’s 2022 Scottsdale Auction
January 22-30.
A wealth of excellent
documentation accompanies this
300SL, including a copy of the
factory Wagenkarte (data card)
and data-card decoding by the
Mercedes Classic Center in Los
Angeles, a copy of the factory export
delivery notice, complete ownership
history that includes a selection
of ownership papers, photos from
when the car was raced and race
results, plus service and restoration
notes. The 300SL is an unqualified
icon and since introduction, a
fixture in virtually any “greatest
cars” list ever published. Steeped in
fabulous racing history, this 1955
Mercedes-Benz 300SL is certainly
one of the most interesting.
