9suspension, carbon-fiber body panels and more than 800 horsepower. And the bar just keeps being raised. This year, Porsche introduced the electric Taycan Turbo GT with a Weissach package that can put 1,093 horsepower to the pavement. Tesla is taking reservations for its new roadster, which they are promising will have a 0-to-60 time of 1.9 seconds with a 250-mph top speed and 621-mile range. At the Tesla Roadster%u2019s introduction, Elon Musk said it will be %u201cthe fastest production car ever made, period.%u201dI%u2019ve been around long enough to remember our old crank-window muscle cars we bought off used car lots, and stripping them of power steering and air conditioning to get every last tenth of a second at the drag strip. If you got into the 13s without the car overheating, you had a stud car. Now muscle cars are going into the 9s off the showroom floor, and you have every luxury and safety feature. These are all signs that the hobby is alive and well, and incredibly healthy. Not only are we enjoying the performance of these technological wonders, but we%u2019re also enjoying the heritage that lives on in these cars. The originals that served as inspiration for the new wave of performance cars are as popular as ever, and many of them are being rebuilt with the latest powertrains and technology - a true melding of the best from both eras. At Barrett-Jackson we%u2019re honored and proud to play a role in introducing these incredible cars to a wider audience. I%u2019ve been truly fortunate to be able stand up there on the block and oversee some of these monumental historic moments, including the evolution of both EVs and internal-combustion-engine vehicles. We keep hearing that the performance party has to end sometime, but so far the manufacturers keep pushing that date further into the future. I%u2019m going to continue riding the wave and enjoying each new peak.
