1989 PORSCHE SPEEDSTER
- - - POWER IS DELIVERED BY
WAY OF A 3.2-LITER AIR-COOLED
The Porsche 911 Carrera Speedster debuted in 1989 as a one-year special for
HORIZONTALLY OPPOSED FLAT-6 the 911s 25th year anniversary and had direct design attributes from the 356
ENGINE THAT PUTS OUT 231HP AND Speedster. It had a frameless, raked windshield that was also 3.1 inches shorter
than a Carrera’s.
195 FT/LBS OF TORQUE - - -
At the rear, the dual hump tonneau cover replaced the back seats. To the
driver’s right and left were roll-up windows and a manual rollaway roof. The
911 Speedster saved some weight over the cabriolet, coming in about 150
pounds lighter thanks to the removal of the roof frame and the non-inclusion
of electric windows and other interior fittings. Power is delivered by way of a
3.2-liter air-cooled horizontally opposed flat-6 engine that puts out 231hp and
195 ft/lbs of torque.
Power is fed through a 5-speed manual Getrag G50 transaxle, and there are
power-assisted, ventilated and cross-drilled disc brakes with alloy calipers at
all four corners. Turbo-look Speedsters were fitted with 7J and 9J 16-inch-
diameter Fuchs forged alloy wheels and larger tires.
This example shows well with 22,755 actual miles. Options include Blaupunkt
Charleston SQR 26 radio, electric height-adjust seats, cruise control and added
air conditioning.
