But if a car can still turn heads decades after being released into the world, still influences modern designs and still sees values escalating, it’s a good bet that a manufacturer’s stylists achieved automotive immortality. The Aston Martins of the 1960s fall into that category. Around the globe, the DB4 and DB5 established a reputation for sophisticated performance and Grand Touring excellence. The DB6 arrived in late 1965, the latest evolution guided by Sir David Brown, the visionary industrialist who put Aston Martin on the map. Mechanically, most DB6 hardware carried over from the DB5. The DB6, however, was larger than the DB5 it replaced, with a longer wheelbase, taller roofline and more rear-seat room. Stylistically, the DB6 incorporated split front and rear bumpers and improved aerodynamics thanks to a handsome Kamm tail rear spoiler.According to Aston Martin’s history on its corporate website, “DB6 was a highly fashionable car to be seen in; famous owners included HRH Prince Charles, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Twiggy and Peter Sellers.”
