Inspiration for the name "Camaro" was
LOT #736 - 1969 CHEVROLET CAMARO CUSTOM CONVERTIBLE - NO RESERVE
said to be derived from Heath's French and
TAKE A TOUR English Dictionary as a term that translates
to "friend" or "comrade.”
Of course, Chevrolet president, Pete Estes,
said at the time that its name was "lithe
WITH ALL THE RIGHT UPGRADES, and graceful…in keeping with our other
car names beginning with 'C.' It suggests
THIS CUSTOM CAMARO IS ROAD READY! comradeship of good friends, as a personal
car should be to its owner."
Shortly after, reporters asked other GM
Executives about the name and were told
it was literally made up to mean "a small,
vicious animal that eats Mustangs."
This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro convertible
has been given the full Pro-Touring
treatment from the front to rear and
embraces all those definitions.
