Fortunately, Barrett-Jackson has a little something for everyone, no matter what camp you fall into. In particular, there are plenty of purists with passion out there when it comes to America’s sports car, the beloved Corvette. We’ve got to admit, there is something pretty special about a classic Corvette displayed in its original glory.Corvette fans will find a spectacular selection of restored classic Corvettes making their way across the 2024 Scottsdale Auction block this January. Among them are two “Big Tank” coupes from 1966 and 1967. Also known as “Tankers,” these cars were produced between 1963 and 1967 so the Corvette could compete in long endurance races. They were built with massive 36-gallon gas tanks that stretched from the rear bumper to the back of the driver and passenger seats. Only a handful of the cars were produced, and a smaller handful still exist – making these two headed to Scottsdale something to talk about.Featured here are that duo, as well as other Corvettes that have been painstakingly and lovingly restored to how they looked and performed when they rolled off the showroom floor. Pro tip when it comes to original Corvettes: Look for recognition from the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS). A car with a Top Flight Award has been recognized as having been preserved or restored to the highest level of achievement through the rigorous NCRS judging process, while a Duntov Award – reserved for 1953-74 Corvettes – signifies the car has attained a judging score of at least 97% out of 100% based on an original “as manufactured” standard (among other exacting criteria).1967 CHEVROLET CORVETTE 327/350 \This \an L79 327/350hp engine paired with an M20 4-speed manual transmission and has a 36.5-gallon tank, power windows and power brakes.
