Styling updates that would last for 1958 only included faux hood louvers and twin chrome strips adorning the rear deck lid. Buyers appreciated the improvements and updates, with 9,168 built – a new record representing a bump of nearly one-third over 1957. Given the one-year-only styling cues of the 1958 Corvette, its flamboyance and historical significance make it an ideal canvas for expression of the customizer’s artistry today. Far greater power and drivability than the stock specification is delivered by a new 495-horsepower GM LS3 V8 Hotcam crate engine, topped with Holley Sniper EFI and enhanced by custom Corvette-style billet rocker covers, Ultimate headers and a custom-built exhaust system with ceramic coating handsomely accenting the Corvette’s detailed and powder-coated chassis. A GM 4L60E automatic transmission delivers the Corvette’s newfound power, and desirable supporting items include a polished front accessory drive system and DeWitts radiator. The Corvette’s ride and handling are vastly upgraded with a detailed and powder-coated Art Morrison GT chassis, providing a fully adjustable ride height with RideTech coilovers. Stopping power is achieved by Wilwood disc brakes featuring 14-inch rotors, 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, and stainless-steel lines. Power rack & pinion steering provides directional control. Other supporting features include a Tanks Inc. fuel tank and Walbro fuel pump, as well as a custom Speartech wiring harness with GM computers, Fit and finish is simply exceptional, with the exterior gaps all tightened and the body smoothed in preparation for the striking paint finish, all brightwork was rechromed or replaced, and the Corvette’s floors were detailed and then sprayed with Raptor liner material for durability. The custom interior is trimmed in Red Strike leather upholstery with a matching leather-wrapped dash and custom matching trunk. The driver's-side floor was extended 4 inches for additional legroom. Amenities include Dakota Digital VHX gauges, Vintage Air and an OEM-appearing RetroSound radio with Bluetooth connectivity. LED lighting is throughout the vehicle.
